National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre (NCPIC) was created on 29 April 2008 in Sydney as part of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC). It had about 19 staff and aimed to reduce cannabis use in Australia by preventing uptake and providing the public with evidence-based information and interventions.

NCPIC partnered with Pfizer Australia to educate people about cannabis, which raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest due to connections with GW Pharmaceutical and SATIVEX.

In 2016, the Australian government cut funding to NCPIC, and the centre closed in December of that year. While cannabis use has fallen over the past decade, it remains common among young people, making prevention of early use still important.
