FC Dynamo Dnipropetrovsk
FC Dynamo Dnipropetrovsk was a football team from Dnipropetrovsk (now Dnipro) in Ukraine. The Dynamo sports society in the city started in 1925, the year the city was renamed from Ekaterinoslav. The football team was first called Gubmilitsiya and, around 1929, took the Dynamo name after its parent club (some sources say 1929 is when the club was established). They played at Dynamo Stadium in Shevchenko Park.
In 1935, the Dnipro city team, built mainly from Dynamo Dnipropetrovsk players, became Ukrainian champions. When Soviet club competitions began in 1936, the team played in groups B and V, and later took part in other Soviet competitions.
After World War II, in 1947, Dynamo Dnipropetrovsk merged with FC Stal Dnipropetrovsk, which later became FC Dnipro.
