Nadowli District was a district in Ghana’s Upper West Region. It was created in 1988 and on 28 June 2012 was split into two districts: Nadowli-Kaleo (capital Nadowli) and Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (capital Issa). It lay in the western part of the Upper West Region, with Nadowli town as its capital. It bordered Wa West and Wa Municipal to the south. The area covers about 2,594 square kilometers. The land is mostly flat to gently rolling, between 150 and 300 meters above sea level, with some parts around 600 meters. Agriculture is the main economic activity, employing about 85% of the workforce; commerce and industry are less developed.
