NRJ, short for Nouvelle Radio Jeune (New Youth Radio), is a private French radio station created in 1981 by Jean-Paul Baudecroux and Max Guazzini. It became famous after singer Dalida helped prevent its closure in 1984. Today, NRJ is the founding station of the NRJ Group and broadcasts in more than 15 countries, with about 30 million listeners each week. In France, the main station plays current chart hits all day, with electronic dance music on weekend late nights. Its online radios offer a wide variety of genres, including rap, R&B, dance, hip-hop, electronic, top 40, urban, and rock.

NRJ is known internationally as Energy outside France. The network is owned by NRJ Group in France and Belgium, with local partners in other countries. The brand has expanded far beyond its Paris beginnings and operates many web radios alongside its main FM broadcasts.
