Mushtaque Changezi (born Mushtaque Malano in 1943 in Kotri, Jamshoro district, Sindh, Pakistan) was a famous Sindhi film actor, director, and writer. Nicknamed the “Dileep Kumar of Sindhi films,” he came from a police family; his father was Muhammad Yaqoob Malano. He started as a photographer at Sindh Agriculture College in Tando Jam and worked in stage comedy and radio before entering films. In 1960, after auditioning for Shehru Feroz, director Hassan Shaikh cast him as the film’s hero, launching his career. He acted in about 60 Sindhi films and became especially popular for his pairing with actress Chakori. Notable movies include Mithra Shal Milan, Laila Majnu, Chandoki, Nuri Jam Tamachi, Piyar Tan Sadquau, Piyar Kayo Seengar, and Sodha Puta Sindh Ja. His last film was Miran Jamali (1990). He also wrote and directed several films, and as the Sindhi film industry declined, he moved to television dramas. Later, he returned to Radio Pakistan, hosting entertainment programs and producing radio plays based on Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, and he appeared in other radio and TV roles. His autobiography, Maan Ker Aahiyan (Who Am I?), was published by Naz Sanai. He was married to Chakori and received the Pride of Performance award from the President of Pakistan. Mushtaque Changezi died on March 1, 2012, in Hyderabad, Sindh, and was buried at the Tando Jahanian graveyard in Hyderabad.
