Electra Airways
Electra Airways is a Bulgarian charter and aircraft leasing airline based in Sofia. It was founded in 2016 and began operations in August 2017 with a single Airbus A320 for tour operators. In 2022 it became part of Vector Group, an international aviation holding that also includes MRO ETG Maintenance, leasing firm Maverick Horizon and capacity provider Classic Air.
By 2025 Electra Airways operates about 10 Airbus A320 family aircraft (9 A320s and 1 A321), leased from Avolon, Carlyle Aviation Partners and Maverick Horizon. The airline’s hubs are Varna Airport, Katowice Airport and Burgas Airport.
Electra Airways serves destinations across Europe (Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland), North Africa (Tunisia, Morocco) and the Middle East.
In 2024 the airline and SunExpress announced a three-year partnership to operate flights from German airports to Varna and Burgas. Two aircraft would be used initially, rising to six over the contract term.
