Multiven
Multiven Group BV is a Netherlands-based company that provides independent, decentralized software integrity maintenance and cyber-defense for multi-vendor network hardware and blockchain nodes. It serves large enterprises, internet service providers, small and medium businesses, telecoms, government agencies, academia, and others worldwide. The company was founded in 2005 in Palo Alto, California by Peter Alfred-Adekeye and is now headquartered in Rotterdam, with regional offices in Paris, London, and Dubai.
Multiven positions itself as the world’s first independent provider of software management, maintenance, and cyber-defense for Internet networks, not tied to any single hardware or software vendor. In 2018, it launched the Multiven Open Marketplace, a blockchain-based platform that lets customers buy and sell new and used IT hardware, software, and services peer-to-peer using smart contracts and the Multicoin cryptocurrency. Maintenance and cybersecurity services can be offered on the platform and linked to any hardware device. Some Multicoin transaction fees fund Multiven B-Fence, a program to defend Bitcoin nodes and their routers against centralization risks.
In 2008, Multiven filed an antitrust lawsuit against Cisco Systems to promote competition in the network maintenance market. Cisco settled in 2010 by making updates and patches available to Multiven’s customers, effectively allowing Multiven to operate as an independent competitor. In 2015, Multiven’s CEO filed a libel lawsuit over false allegations related to the case.
