Mount Sherrill

Mount Sherrill is a mountain in Greene County, New York, in the Catskill Mountains. It rises to 3,550 feet (1,080 meters) and has a prominence of 540 feet. It is named after Eliakim Sherrill and sits between North Dome to the east and Balsam Mountain to the west. The peak lies within the Hudson River watershed. Water from the northern slopes drains into Bennett Brook and Newton Brook, then West Kill, Schoharie Creek, the Mohawk River, and finally the Hudson. Water from the west side drains into Bushnellsville Creek and Esopus Creek, reaching the Hudson through Esopus Creek. Mount Sherrill is part of the Westkill Mountain Wilderness Area of Catskill State Park. There is no official hiking trail to the summit, though some have proposed extending the Devil's Path west from West Kill Mountain. An old bus is said to be near the 3,200-foot level, but its exact location is hard to find.
