Kim Chiu
Kim Chiu, born Kimberly Sue Yap Chiu on April 19, 1990, in Cebu City, Philippines, is a Filipino-Chinese actress, singer, TV host, and businesswoman. She became famous after winning Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition in 2006, earning the nickname Chinita Princess ng Cebu.
She has built a successful career in film and television. Her movies have grossed over 1.3 billion pesos, and she has won multiple awards, including a Seoul International Drama Award and several Star Awards for TV and Box Office Entertainment Awards. Her breakout on screen came with a popular team-up with Gerald Anderson in Sana Maulit Muli (2007), I’ve Fallen for You (2007), and Tayong Dalawa (2009). She also starred in The Healing (2012), Bride for Rent (2014), Etiquette for Mistresses (2015), and One Great Love (2018).
On TV, she led shows such as My Binondo Girl (2011), Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012), Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin (2017), Love Thy Woman (2020), Linlang (2023), and the Philippine adaptation of What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (2024), which earned her a Best Actress nomination at the 2024 Asian Television Awards. She is a regular host on It’s Showtime and a long-time performer on ASAP.
Chiu has released music that earned Gold-record status for her albums. She was chosen by Disney Southeast Asia to model as Mulan in a 2015 calendar shoot and was inducted into the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in 2010. She studied business at the University of the Philippines Open University after passing the UPCAT in 2015.
Off screen, Chiu is known for her charity work. She has supported asthma awareness campaigns, Red Cross disaster relief, and campaigns like Free Mali with PETA. She has been in high-profile relationships with fellow actors Gerald Anderson (2006–2010) and Xian Lim (2012–2023).
