Mohit Shantilal Shah
Mohit Shantilal Shah (born 9 September 1953 in Vijapur, Gujarat) is a retired Indian judge who served as chief justice of two Indian high courts. He began his career as a judge of the Gujarat High Court in September 1995 and served there until December 2009. He was Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court from December 2009 to June 2010, and then became the 39th Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, serving from June 26, 2010, to September 9, 2015, when he retired.
Early life and education: He grew up in Baroda, Surat, and Amreli. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and was a gold medalist in his law examinations in 1976.
Controversy: In 2017, some family members of a deceased CBI judge alleged that during his Mumbai tenure as Chief Justice, Shah offered ₹100 crore to judge Brijgopal Harkishan Loya, who was presiding over the Sohrabuddin Sheikh Encounter Case.
