Altforst is a small village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is part of the municipality of West Maas en Waal, about 10 km north of Oss. The name, first recorded in 1134 as Altfurse, means "old settlement near furze." The village began as a settlement cleared from forests in a low-lying area, which is why three artificial mounds were built to raise the ground.

In 1840 Altforst had 281 residents; by 2021 the population was about 580. The area covers 7.41 square kilometers and the elevation is about 6 meters above sea level. There are two churches: the Dutch Reformed Church from 1824, decommissioned in 1970, and a Roman Catholic Church from 1891 that replaced a barn church. Postal code 6628 and dialing code 0487.
