Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition is a version of Microsoft Office for the classic Mac OS. It was unveiled at Macworld San Francisco on January 6, 1998, and released in two editions: Standard and Gold (the Gold edition is rarer). The MacBU redesigned it to feel more like native Mac software.

New features included Internet Explorer 4.0 and Outlook Express (an email client and USENET reader). It also introduced drag-and-drop installation, self-repairing applications, and Quick Thesaurus, and it was the first Office for Mac to support QuickTime movies.

A rare Gold edition added FrontPage 1.0 for Macintosh, Bookshelf 98, and Encarta 98 Macintosh Deluxe Edition. Office 98 runs on the classic Mac OS and was updated through Service Release 5 on November 29, 2002.
