Michael Reichmann
Michael H. Reichmann (June 25, 1944 – May 18, 2016) was a Canadian photographer and entrepreneur known for landscape, travel, and street photography, and for building online photography communities. Born in England, he later lived in Canada and led Batteries Included in the mid-1980s. He founded The Luminous Landscape, one of the first photography-focused websites, in the mid-1990s, and in 2014 launched the Luminous Endowment to fund grants for photographers. Reichmann also helped popularize the Exposing to the Right (ETTR) exposure method and supported open RAW image formats. He passed away in Toronto from bladder cancer. Spouse: Teya Wendie Flaster. He held a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Political Science. Resting place: Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, Toronto.
