Doonside railway station

Doonside railway station is a heritage-listed stop in the Sydney suburb of Doonside, on the Main Western line. It serves Sydney Trains on the T1 Western line and is about 38.6 kilometres from Central Station. The station has four platforms arranged as two island platforms and is electrified.

History and features
Doonside opened on 27 September 1880. It was renamed Wolkara on 1 February 1921, but returned to its original name 12 days later. The station was rebuilt in the 1950s when the Main Western line was electrified. A major upgrade was completed on 2 December 2023, adding lifts, updating canopies, and moving the stairs on Platforms 3 and 4 to the eastern end to align with Platforms 1 and 2. The station is staffed on weekdays from 6am to 7pm and on weekends and public holidays from 8am to 4pm. The station code is DOD.

Services and connections
Doonside is served by Sydney Trains’ T1 Western line. It has four tracks and four platforms. In 2023, about 1.3 million passengers used the station.

Bus connections
Busways operates two daytime bus routes via Doonside station, contracted to Transport for NSW. There is also one NightRide overnight bus route serving the station.
