Mexico competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney with 78 athletes (52 men and 26 women) across 19 sports and 66 events. The team’s flag bearer was Fernando Platas. Mexico won six medals: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze, finishing 40th in the medal table. In archery, two Mexican competitors were eliminated in the first round. In diving, Fernando Platas won a silver medal, Mexico’s diving medal after 12 years. In sailing, three men and one woman represented Mexico in three events.
