Merritt-Winstead House
Merritt-Winstead House is a historic home near Roxboro in Person County, North Carolina. It was built in 1915 as a 1 1/2-story wooden house that blended Queen Anne and Colonial Revival styles.
In 1934 it was enlarged to a two-story brick house in Colonial Revival style, with a one-story wrap-around front porch in Craftsman style. Around 1950, a one-story vestibule was added to the front.
The property covers 6.6 acres.
Other structures and features on the property that contribute to its historic character include a carport (c. 1950), a garage (c. 1934), a tennis court (c. 1925), a swimming pool complex (c. 1952), a well house (c. 1950), two grape arbors (c. 1930–1935), Bill Joe's Play Doctor's Office (c. 1928), retaining walls (c. 1952), a storage building (c. 1934), a barbecue grill (c. 1952), and rock walls with a boxwood garden (c. 1925).
The Merritt-Winstead House was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 15, 2005.
