Mendel University in Brno
Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, was founded on July 24, 1919, as the University of Agriculture. It is the oldest agricultural school in Czechoslovakia. In 1994 it was renamed Mendel University of Agriculture and Forestry in Brno, and in 2010 it adopted its current name, Mendel University in Brno (Mendelova univerzita v Brně in Czech), named after Gregor Johann Mendel, the botanist known as the father of genetics.
The university has five faculties and one institute: Faculty of AgriSciences; Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology; Faculty of Business and Economics; Faculty of Horticulture; Faculty of Regional Development and International Studies; and the Institute of Lifelong Education. It is also part of CEITEC MENDELU, a research center established in 2011 to boost science and technology.

Mendel University conducts research and teaching in agriculture, forestry, biology, economics, and technical sciences. It focuses on sustainable agriculture, food safety and quality, and the development of rural areas. In 2020, the university entered the QS World University Rankings for the first time, ranking among the top 1,000 (around 701–750).
