Mechanicsville is a community in Montour County, Pennsylvania. It was once listed as a census-designated place (CDP) for the 2000 census, when 3,099 people lived there in 1,172 households. It is part of the Bloomsburg-Berwick micropolitan area. By the 2010 census, Mechanicsville was no longer listed as a CDP or as a populated place.

Geography and land: The area covers about 2 square miles (5.3 km2), all land, with rolling hills. Most of the land is residential, in the Norwegian and East Norwegian townships.

History: It was settled by workers. The Bloomsburg Trolley Line passed through the community. A silk mill was built in 1911.

Demographics (2000): Population 3,099; 1,172 households; 732 families. Population density about 1,517 people per square mile. Racial makeup: about 95% White, 0.9% African American, 3.1% Asian, and small percentages of other groups; about 1% Hispanic or Latino.

Households: 27.6% had children under 18; 51.2% were married couples; 9.0% had a female householder with no husband; 37.5% were non-families; 35.4% of households were individuals; 18.3% had someone living alone who was 65 or older. Average household size was 2.20; average family size was 2.85.

Age: 20.4% under 18; 4.1% 18-24; 21.5% 25-44; 22.3% 45-64; 31.7% 65 or older. Median age was 47. For every 100 females, there were 70.8 males (63.8 males per 100 females age 18+).

Income: Median household income $42,750; median family $54,559; male $46,719; female $31,638. Per capita income $22,528. Poverty: 3.2% of families and 9.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.7% of those under 18 and 20.4% of those 65 or older.
