Masjid Al-Ansar
Masjid Al-Ansar (Al-Ansar Mosque) is a Sunni mosque in Bedok North, Singapore, at the junction of Chai Chee Street and Bedok North Avenue 1. It was one of the first mosques built under Phase One of the Mosque Building Fund Programme and was completed in 1981. The original building could hold about 3,500 worshippers and hosted daily and Friday prayers, as well as madrasah classes during weekdays and weekends.
In October 2011, the mosque announced a major renovation, which began in October 2012. The upgrade took about three years and increased capacity to 4,500 while improving access for the elderly. The minaret from the original mosque was preserved and converted into an elevator shaft. The rebuilt mosque opened on 24 April 2015 and now has seven floors, including a basement car park, barrier-free access, ramps, and a family prayer area. The mosque is accessible from Bedok MRT station.
