CubCrafters CC11-100 Sport Cub S2
The CubCrafters CC11-100 Sport Cub S2 is a US-made light sport aircraft. It has a high wing, two seats in tandem, conventional (taildragger) landing gear, and a tube-and-fabric construction. It was designed to meet the FAA’s Light Sport category and was certified to ASTM standards, with production continuing at least through 2010. The S2 was introduced in 2007 as an upgrade to the original Sport Cub from 2005.
Cub Crafters started as a shop for maintenance and upgrades of Piper aircraft. In 1998 they began producing all-new airplanes, creating the Sport Cub to meet Light Sport requirements. The S2 keeps the classic Piper Cub look but adds updates: a 100 hp Teledyne Continental engine with a full cowling, an electrical system, and a modified USA 35b airfoil from the Super Cub.
In 2007 Boeing CEO Scott Carson bought an S2 for his own use.
