Marius Müller-Westernhagen, born 6 December 1948 in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a German singer and actor. He has been a major figure in German rock since the mid-1970s and is known for energetic live shows and memorable songs, especially "Freiheit," which many see as an anthem of German reunification. Since the late 1980s he has used the stage name Westernhagen. He has stayed popular by reinventing himself every few years and by performing mainly in German. He has also acted in films and on radio.
