Mariano Bombarda
Mariano Bombarda (born 10 September 1972) is a former Argentinian footballer who played as a striker. He was born in Cádiz, Spain, to an Italian father and Argentinian mother. His family moved a lot because his father was a naval engineer, and he lived in Spain, Italy, Argentina and Venezuela.
His football path began in 1989 when, through a Venezuelan student exchange, he played for ACV in Assen, Netherlands, joining their under-19 team. He spent two years with Huracán’s youth system, then returned to the Netherlands to play for ACV while studying. A Groningen scout signed him, and he made his professional debut in the 1994-95 season, replacing Marcel Boudesteijn against Heerenveen on 26 August 1994.
Bombarda later played for Metz in France, then returned to Groningen, moved on to Willem II—where he scored after just 28.21 seconds against Sparta Prague in the 1999-2000 UEFA Champions League—and also played for Feyenoord and Tenerife, retiring in 2005 after a season with Tenerife.
After ending his playing career, Bombarda worked as a youth coach at Willem II. He finished his career with 250 club appearances and 101 goals.
