Ida locusta
Ida locusta (Rchb.f.) A.Ryan & Oakeley is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae. It is native to Peru and grows on sunny embankments at elevations of about 2,000–3,000 meters (6,560–9,850 feet). This large orchid has night-blooming flowers that smell like apples. The flowering stalk is upright and about 7 inches (18 cm) long, carrying a single waxy green flower that lasts 2–4 weeks. The flower is about 4.5 inches (11 cm) across. Synonyms include Ida locusta var. minor, Lycaste locusta, and Sudamerlycaste locusta.
