Marguerite J. Gascoigne
Marguerite Jackson Lazarus (1 May 1916 – 24 September 2004) was a British writer and teacher. She was born in Durham, England, and died in North Yorkshire, England. She wrote children's books as Marguerite J. Gascoigne and romance novels as Anna Gilbert. She studied at Durham University, earning a BA with honours in 1937 and an MA in 1957. She taught English in grammar schools from 1938 to 1973. She married Jacob “Jack” Lazarus on 5 April 1956. Her novel The Look of Innocence won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award in 1976 from the Romantic Novelists’ Association.
