Marc Bernaus
Marc Bernaus Cano, born 2 February 1977 in Andorra la Vella, is a former footballer from Andorra who played as a left back. He came through FC Barcelona’s youth system but never played for Barcelona’s first team in La Liga. He spent much of his career in Spain’s second division with Barcelona B and several other clubs, including CD Toledo, Terrassa, Gimnàstic de Tarragona, UD Las Palmas, Getafe, Elche, Polideportivo Ejido, and Girona. In total, he made about 286 appearances in Spain’s second tier and 352 club appearances overall, scoring 5 goals.
His highlight was the 2003–04 season with Getafe, helping the club reach promotion to La Liga by playing 33 of 42 league matches. He also experienced five relegations, including two with Barcelona’s reserve teams. Internationally, Bernaus played for Spain at youth level (U18 and U20) but chose to represent Andorra at senior level, earning 32 caps and scoring 1 goal from 2000 to 2013. Notably, on 13 October 2004 he scored Andorra’s first-ever competitive World Cup qualifying win, against Macedonia.
