Marafa Bashir Abba
Marafa Bashir Abba is a Nigerian politician from Nguroje in Taraba State. He served in the Taraba State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2011 and was Deputy Speaker from 2005 to 2011. In 2015, he was elected Senator for Taraba Central, but he served only six months (May to November) before the Court of Appeal unseated him. He is now a Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), nominated by President Tinubu and confirmed by the Senate.
Born in Nguroje, he attended Central Primary School Nguroje and Government Day Secondary School Jada, then earned a BSc in Accountancy from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola (formerly Federal University of Technology, Yola). Before politics, he worked at United Bank for Africa (UBA), gaining experience in banking and administration.
Abba also served as Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to the Taraba State Government and was the Chairman of the Taraba State Tourism Board. In 2025, Tinubu nominated him again as a Federal Commissioner in the RMAFC, with the nomination and confirmation reported by national media.
