Manchester Theatre Awards
Manchester Theatre Awards began in 2011 to continue the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, which started in 1981 and were a major prize outside London. When the MEN stopped backing them, critics led by Alan Hulme and then Kevin Bourke, with support from Greater Manchester theatres, formed a new group to run the awards. The first winners (for 2011) were announced on 14 March 2012.
Nominations for 2014 performances were announced on 20 January 2015, and the winners were announced on 13 March 2015 at the Royal Northern College of Music. The 2015 winners were announced on 4 March 2016 at HOME (Manchester); the 2016 winners were announced on 17 March 2017 at HOME (Manchester); and the 2017 winners were announced on 9 March 2018 at The Lowry.
