Mainframe is a fictional member of the G.I. Joe team. His real name is Blaine L. Parker, and he was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He serves as the team’s communications and computer expert.

Background and skills
Mainframe is both athletic and a big computer nerd. He graduated high school at 17, joined the Army’s airborne units, and earned the Combat Infantryman Badge. He later studied at MIT with the G.I. Bill, worked in Silicon Valley, and even served with the Marines and at the Pentagon before joining G.I. Joe. He specializes in computers, networks, and technology, and can design computer viruses to outsmart Cobra.

In comics and animation
- In Marvel Comics, Mainframe appears on missions with Dusty, helps locate Cobra bases, and plays a part in space and naval operations with the Joe team.
- In the Sunbow animated series, he is often paired with Dial Tone, enjoys video games, and takes part in many high-tech missions. He has a memorable storyline in which he has feelings for Zarana, and they share a complex encounter during a mission.
- He appears in various crossovers and later storylines, including G.I. Joe vs. Transformers, where he contributes his tech know-how to the team.

Toys and media appearances
- Mainframe was first released as an action figure in 1986, with a re-release in 1987 and a later variant in 1986 for a Brazil-exclusive set.
- In 2008, a new version named Dataframe came out. He also appears as Data Frame in the 2009 video game G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
- He is referenced and used in several post-1980s comics and media, continuing to be a key tech specialist for the Joes.

Legacy
Mainframe’s work with computers helps the Joes defend against Cobra’s cyber and real-world threats. He is memorialized among the real Joes who lost their lives in the line of duty, and in later stories his leadership and tech skills continue to be highlighted, including mentoring younger allies like Firewall.
