Bickfordville
Bickfordville is a small hamlet in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It sits on the southern part of Bell Island in Conception Bay, off the southeast coast of Newfoundland, between the communities of Freshwater and Lance Cove. The name comes from many residents having the surname Bickford. A local Loyal Orange Association lodge operated there until 1970. In 1947, Bell Island held a referendum about becoming a municipality; in Bickfordville, 12 people voted for and 31 against (43 adults total). On April 2, 1978, the Bell Island Boom—one of the island’s largest explosions—had its epicenter in Bickfordville. The hamlet lies along Bickford's Road and part of Lance Cove Road in an unincorporated area. Coordinates: 47°36′04″N 52°59′28″W.
