Meiji Shrine Outer Garden
Meiji Shrine Outer Garden is a Western-style park in Tokyo. It covers about 140 acres (580,000 square metres) and lies in the Shinjuku and Minato areas. The garden was created by private volunteers to honor Emperor Meiji (1852–1912) and Empress Shōken. It was dedicated in 1926 as the outer garden of Meiji Shrine. The inner garden around the shrine is Japanese in style, while the outer garden has a Western look. The site also includes the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery and Meiji Jingu Stadium. The park is reachable from Gaiemmae Station. In autumn, ginkgo trees light up the park with golden leaves.
