Machara
Machara is a village in the Gulripshi District of Abkhazia, a region in Georgia. As of 2011, it had a population of 2,640 people.
The community is mainly Armenian, with about 67% of residents. About 24% are Abkhaz, 6.5% Russian, 1% Georgian, 0.8% Greek, and 0.3% Ukrainian.
The Abkhaz population has been growing in recent years as repatriate families, often from Turkey, settle in Machara. On 30 May 2012, 37 repatriated Abkhaz and their families received restored apartments in the village.
