MV Tricia
MV Tricia is a passenger ferry on Perth’s Swan River. It is owned by the Public Transport Authority and operated for Transperth by Captain Cook Cruises. The ferry runs the Elizabeth Quay to Mends Street route and was named after Tricia, an Asian elephant at Perth Zoo, chosen by public vote.
In 2017 the Public Transport Authority called for bids to replace the older MV Shelley Taylor-Smith. In December 2018 the contract to build MV Tricia was awarded to Dongara Marine of Port Denison. MV Tricia entered service on 20 December 2019, with its first voyage down the Swan River past the Swan Bells, Matagarup Bridge and Optus Stadium.
Specs: 23.7 metres long, 5.5 metres wide, 1.0 metre draught. One deck, two Cummins QSB6.7 engines, top speed 16 knots. Capacity 148 passengers, crew of 2.
