MAT Macedonian Airlines (IATA: IN, ICAO: MAK, Callsign: MAKAVIO) was the flag carrier of North Macedonia. It was founded in 1994 and began operations on 23 June 1994, flying from Skopje to Zürich with a Boeing 737-200. The airline was based in Skopje, with Skopje International Airport as its main base and Ohrid Airport as an additional base.

MAT was a private company owned by two major shareholders, and the government granted it flag-carrier status for ten years starting in 2000. In 2007 the airline began selling electronic tickets online. In 2008 MAT introduced its first Boeing 737-500, a 126-seat plane.

In December 2008 MAT lost several routes after Eurocontrol banned it from entering German and Italian airspace due to unpaid air-traffic control fees from 1999–2005. It was also banned from Greek airspace because of the Macedonia naming dispute. In 2009, although some disputes eased, Macedonian-registered aircraft still could not land in Greek airports.

To reduce costs, MAT laid off about 70 of its 180 employees in 2009 and restructured its fleet. On 20 March 2009 Jat Airways of Serbia announced plans to take over a majority of MAT shares. On 1 September 2009 MAT lost its Air Operators Certificate, ending its operations.

Before ceasing, MAT served several European destinations from Skopje and had a working relationship with Jat for possible cooperation. In 2008 MAT carried a significant share of traffic on routes to Zurich, Vienna, Düsseldorf, Rome, Istanbul, Hamburg, Berlin and Amsterdam. The MAT fleet included Boeing 737 aircraft, including the 737-500, with an average age around 18 years in 2009.

Zlatko Petrovski served as president, and the airline was headquartered in Skopje.
