Lynn Belt Line Street Railway
The Lynn Belt Line Street Railway was a streetcar line in Lynn, Massachusetts. It was chartered in 1889 and began running on May 30, 1890. The line formed a six‑mile loop from near Central Square, through East Lynn, Glenmere, West Lynn, and back to Central Square. In 1892, the Belt Line was bought by the Lynn and Boston Railroad. When the Eastern Railroad rebuilt its tracks, the Belt Line loop was disrupted and an alternate parallel line was used. Many riders stayed with the parallel line even after the Belt Line service was restored, leading to a move to abandon the Belt Line. East Lynn residents protested, saying that abandoning the Belt Line would cut their access to the Central and Narrow Gauge stations and to several large industries.
