Lye railway station
Lye railway station serves the town of Lye in the West Midlands, England. It is on the Birmingham–Stourbridge line and is managed by West Midlands Trains, with a small number of Chiltern Railways services also stopping there.
History:
- Opened in 1863 by the Stourbridge Railway on the line from Stourbridge Junction to Old Hill.
- Later became part of the Great Western Railway and integrated into its Birmingham line.
- Lye has one of the shortest station names in the UK.
Facilities:
- The ticket office is no longer open; ticket machines are available on the platform.
Services:
- Monday to Saturday daytime: every 30 minutes, operated mainly by West Midlands Trains.
- Routes run between Worcester Foregate Street or Worcester Shrub Hill via Stourbridge Junction and Birmingham Snow Hill, with one train per hour extending to Stratford-upon-Avon.
- Some weekday evening trains run to Dorridge, with some services continuing to Leamington Spa or Whitlocks End.
- Sundays: hourly services.
- Peak times: extra services, including one Chiltern Railways service to Stourbridge Junction from London Marylebone at weekday nighttime; there is no return service from Lye.
