Salatiwara

Salatiwara was a Middle Bronze Age city in south-central Anatolia, on a road between Waḫšušana and Burushattum. We mainly know about it from the Anitta text. In the 18th century BCE, Anitta, king of Kussara, besieged Salatiwara. He defeated the troops sent from the city and prisoners were taken to Nesa. When Salatiwara revolted and gathered its forces along the Hulana River, Anitta circled around and captured the city from behind, then burned it. The city’s wealth—silver and gold, plus 40 horse teams and 1,400 infantry—was taken as booty, either by the king as he escaped or by Anitta.
