Luochong Lu
Luochong lu, or Record of Naked Creatures, is a Ming dynasty Chinese book that describes foreign lands and cultures. It updates earlier works and was a popular gazetteer printed with illustrations, available both on its own and in collections. While mainly about places outside China, it also mentions some Chinese ethnic groups and mythical countries, covering regions across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The pictures and text often framed non-Chinese peoples in animal-like terms, emphasizing a divide from Chinese people.
