Lulu (Italian: Lulù) is a 1953 Italian drama film directed by Fernando Cerchio and starring Valentina Cortese. The story follows Mario, a student from a noble Milanese family, who falls in love with Lulu. When Lulu’s protector gives Mario the keys to her apartment, he leaves in anger after doubting Lulu’s honesty. Lulu later returns to her questionable parents, who urge her to pretend to be pregnant. To take responsibility, Mario marries Lulu against his family’s wishes and moves to the countryside to continue his studies. Lulu grows bored with country life and resumes an old relationship. An anonymous letter warns Mario, and he rushes home to confront Lulu and her lover. The lover shoots at Mario, but Lulu is hit instead, standing between them.
