Lucy Atkins
Lucy Atkins (born 1968) is a British writer and journalist from Edinburgh, Scotland. She studied English literature at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. Her novels include Magpie Lane, Windmill Hill and The Night Visitor; she has also written non-fiction such as First Time Parent and The Cancer Survivor's Companion. The Night Visitor has been optioned for television.
Atkins is the daughter of lexicographer B. T. S. Atkins and the niece of linguist John McHardy Sinclair. She teaches on the Creative Writing Master’s program at the University of Oxford and is a literary critic for The Sunday Times and The Guardian. She served as a judge for the 2017 Costa Book Awards, has co-presented book features on BBC Radio Oxford, and has written for The Guardian, The Times, The Sunday Times and The Telegraph. She has three children.
