Love's Long Journey is a 2005 Hallmark Channel TV movie, the third film in the Love Comes Softly series. It is loosely based on Janette Oke’s books and was directed by Michael Landon Jr. The story follows Willie and Missie LaHaye as they head west to build a new life together.

Willie and Missie travel with plans for a fresh start, leaving Missie’s family behind. They settle on a run-down farm at Tettsford Junction. Missie is excited but worried about her pregnancy and what the future will bring. They hire four ranch hands and become friends with Miriam Red Hawk McClain, a Native American neighbor, along with her husband Sean and brother Sharp Claw.

During the Christmas season, Missie invites the ranch hands to a simple, heartfelt celebration. In town, Missie teaches local children to read and forms a bond with Miriam. But danger comes when a gang of outlaws, led by Trent and Pacey, hijacks the house to steal money they had buried earlier.

Missie is forced to ride out with Trent to dig up the money. She later uses a clever disguise, taking Trent’s clothes and leading the outlaws to believe she is still Trent. Willie, Jeff, and the others are captured or scared, and Missie makes a brave move to save her family.

A tense confrontation ends with Sonny trying to help but being killed after a fight with Pacey. Missie forgives Sonny, understanding his actions came from a need to help his own brother. Willie shoots Pacey, and the danger finally passes. Missie and Willie vow to protect Jeff and their future together.

That night Missie goes into labor, and with Miriam as midwife, she gives birth to a baby boy named Matthew Isaiah LaHaye. The film ends with the new family starting their life together on the western frontier.
