Looney Tunes: Spotlight Collection
The Looney Tunes Spotlight Collection is a series of DVDs from Warner Home Video that groups together classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts. It was meant to be a friendlier, cheaper alternative to the higher-priced Looney Tunes Golden Collection, which is aimed at collectors. Many Spotlight titles were already available in the Golden Collection.
Volume by volume (short, easy notes):
- Volume 1 (2003): Early Spotlight release that pulls shorts from Golden Collection Volume 1, offering a family-friendly set of cartoons.
- Volume 2 (2004): Continues the pattern with more shorts from Golden Collection materials.
- Volume 3 (2005): Not a regular Spotlight volume. Called the Looney Tunes Movie Collection, it adds new-to-DVD feature-length titles on separate discs (The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie and Bugs Bunny’s 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales).
- Volume 4 (2006): Features Bugs Bunny shorts (Discs 1 and 4 of Golden Collection Volume 4). Some titles were removed for offensive content, including Southern Fried Rabbit and The Sour Puss.
- Volume 5 (2007): Includes Shorts from Golden Collection Volume 5.
- Volume 6 (2008): Based on Golden Collection Volume 6 (Discs 1 and 4). Most cartoons are stand-alone shorts; A Cartoonist’s Nightmare features Beans.
- Volume 7 (2009): Not tied to a Golden Collection; it's a mix drawn from Golden Collections 1, 2, and 3.
- Volume 8 (2014): A wrap-up that pulls shorts from Golden Collections 2–5, all featuring Bugs Bunny. It is the last volume released.
