Lloyd Ryan is an English drummer and teacher from London. He is known for big-band drumming and for teaching other players. He once supported Buddy Rich at the Lewisham Jazz Festival in 1986. He is best known as a session musician and for teaching Phil Collins, giving him the basics of drum rudiments. Since the 1960s he has worked with artists such as Tony Christie, Matt Monro, Brotherhood of Man, the New Seekers, Tommy Cooper, Bobby Davro, Gene Vincent and P.J. Proby. He has led his own big band since the 1980s and released a big-band album in 2012. Other students who became famous drummers include John Coghlan, Keef Hartley, Derrick McKenzie (Jamiroquai), Nick Simms (Cornershop), Graham Broad, Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets) and Ralph Salmins. In British professional wrestling, he was the manager and spokesman for masked wrestler Kendo Nagasaki from 1990 to 2007, appearing in storylines.
