List of rivers of West Virginia
West Virginia has many rivers and smaller streams. About 46 named rivers exist, not counting major tributaries. Rivers have long made travel possible through the mountains, first for Native Americans and later for European settlers. Today, the large rivers carry goods, while the smaller rivers offer recreational activities like canoeing, fishing, swimming, and white-water rafting.
