South Korea’s mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) provide mobile phone service without owning their own networks. They lease capacity from the three major carriers—SK Telecom (SKT), KT Corporation, and LG Uplus—and resell it to customers. Because MVNOs use the networks of SKT, KT, and LG Uplus, they often offer cheaper or simpler plans. The services run on the existing 4G LTE network, and many MVNOs also provide 5G where available. MVNOs typically focus on easy-to-understand plans, flexible pricing, and customer-friendly options, while letting customers keep their numbers and switch to a plan that fits their needs.
