iCarly is a Nickelodeon comedy about Carly Shay starting her own web show with her friends Sam and Freddie. It ran from 2007 to 2012. The main trio is Carly, Sam, and Freddie, with Carly’s brother Spencer and Gibby as key friends. Two TV movies were made, and there’s a spin-off with Victorious. In 2021 a revival premiered on Paramount+ with most of the original cast returning plus new characters Harper and Millicent.

Main characters
- Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove): A 13-year-old who creates the iCarly web show. She lives with her big brother Spencer in Seattle. The idea for iCarly came after her friends’ ideas were ignored. In the 2021 revival, she shares an apartment with Harper and restarts iCarly with Freddie and Spencer; she rekindles a romance with Freddie.
- Samantha “Sam” Puckett (Jennette McCurdy): Carly’s best friend and iCarly’s co-host. She has a twin sister named Melanie and a mom named Pam. In the finale she and Carly take a break from the show. Sam later moves to Los Angeles in the Sam & Cat spin-off. In the 2021 revival, she’s revealed to have joined a biker gang.
- Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress): The tech producer of iCarly who has a crush on Carly. Sam often teases him, but a romance develops later. In the revival, he has had a rough time with tech ventures and marriages, but he and Carly reconnect and become a couple again in season 3.
- Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor): Carly’s protective older brother. He turns their apartment into a workshop and later runs a few business ventures, including a restaurant. He learns he has 11 biological children from a past donation and keeps the third floor intact for the web show.
- Gibby Gibson (Noah Munck): Carly, Sam, and Freddie’s friend who starts as a recurring character and becomes a main character. He’s goofy, often takes off his shirt, and has a small brother named Guppy. His presence is a running joke in the series.
- Harper Bettencourt (Laci Mosley): Carly’s new best friend and roommate in the revival. She’s an aspiring fashion designer who works as a barista after her family loses their fortune. Her casting brought some controversy but she remains a key part of the show.
- Millicent Mitchell (Jaidyn Triplett): Freddie’s adopted stepdaughter who loves social media. She becomes part of the main dynamic in the revival.
- Marissa Benson (Mary Scheer): Freddie’s overprotective mother. She’s funny, eccentric, and often embarrasses Freddie. In the revival she bonds with Millicent.
- Lewbert Sline (Jeremy Rowley): The rude doorman of Carly’s building. He has a noticeable wart and later the revival shows him attempting to sue the iCarly gang.

Other notable recurring characters
- Nevel Amadeus Papperman (Reed Alexander): A rival who runs Nevelocity.com and enjoys plotting against iCarly.
- Chuck Chambers (Ryan Ochoa): A student who clashes with Spencer and becomes part of some storylines.
- Pam Puckett (Jane Lynch): Sam’s mom, mentioned and featured in episodes.
- Various teachers, friends, and guests appear across episodes, each adding humor or a plot twist to different iCarly adventures.

The iCarly world spans the original show, its TV movies, the Sam & Cat spin-off, and the 2021 revival, which updates the cast and adds Harper and Millicent while bringing back Carly, Freddie, and Spencer.
