Beach volleyball at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held in Nanjing, China, from August 17 to 27 at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center. It was the first time beach volleyball appeared at the Youth Games (indoor volleyball had been in 2010). The event featured 36 teams per gender. Each country could enter up to two teams, one per gender. As hosts, China could enter up to two teams but only fielded a girls’ team. Qualification was organized by the five volleyball federations through regional events across continents. Eligible players were born between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 1999. The group stage ran with three sessions per day, and the quarterfinals with two sessions per day on the two main courts.
