Mom is an American comedy-drama that premiered on CBS on September 23, 2013. It was created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, and Gemma Baker. The show follows Christy Plunkett, a single mother who, after a long struggle with alcohol and drug addiction, decides to restart her life in Napa, California. She works as a waitress at Rustic Fig and attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Her mother Bonnie is also in recovery and tries to have a healthy relationship with her fiancé, Adam, a paraplegic ex-stuntman. Christy’s daughter Violet, born when Christy was 16, is a teenager who was pregnant in season 1. Christy’s younger son Roscoe is from her ex-husband Baxter, who also had addiction problems. Christy and Bonnie lean on their AA friends for support: Marjorie, Jill, Wendy, and Tammy. Recurring characters include Gabriel, the Rustic Fig manager, and Rudy, the head chef.

Episode titles (except for the pilot) usually feature two odd, often unrelated topics mentioned in the episode’s dialogue. The show ran for eight seasons. CBS renewed it for a seventh and eighth season in February 2019; the seventh began on September 26, 2019, and the eighth on November 5, 2020. In February 2021 it was announced that the eighth season would be the final one. A total of 170 episodes aired from September 23, 2013, to May 13, 2021.
