The 1923 general election was held on 6 December 1923. The new Parliament lasted from 6 December 1923 to 29 October 1924 (the 1923–1924 Parliament). The government was the first Ramsay MacDonald ministry, the first Labour government.
The House of Commons had 615 MPs. The Speaker was John Henry Whitley. The Prime Minister was Ramsay MacDonald. The Leader of the Opposition was Stanley Baldwin. The Leader of the third party was H. H. Asquith.
In the House of Lords, the Lord Chancellor was George Cave, 1st Viscount Cave (until 1924) and then Richard Haldane, 1st Viscount Haldane (1924). The Leader of the Lords was George Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston (until 1924) and then Richard Haldane (1924).
