Lionel Dotson
Lionel Eugene Dotson, Jr. (born February 11, 1985) is a former American football defensive tackle who played in the NFL. He grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended Dobie High School, where he played football and basketball and earned honors including a nomination to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Dotson played college football at the University of Arizona. Over his four years, he started 32 of 40 games and finished with 121 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 10.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and four passes defensed. He earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors as a senior in 2007.
He was drafted in the seventh round (245th overall) of the 2008 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins. He played for the Dolphins from 2008 to 2009, spent time with the Denver Broncos on their practice squad in 2010, and had a stint with the Dolphins again in 2010. He later joined the Buffalo Bills in 2011. In his NFL career, Dotson recorded a total of 7 tackles.
Dotson’s uncle, Vance Bedford, has served as a defensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and played in the NFL in 1982.
