Lika Ceni
Lika Ceni, born in 1749 in Ulcinj (then part of the Ottoman Empire, today Montenegro), was an Albanian pirate and ship captain also known as Kapidan Likaceni, Ali Kaceni, or Ali Kapidani. He led pirate crews and raided ships along the Dalmatian coast, helping to seize a port from Venice and attacking Venetian and other merchant vessels.
Legends connect him with Lambros Katsonis, a Greek naval commander who fought the Ottomans. Some stories say Ali Kaceni defeated Katsonis and earned the title Kapidan, but this is likely a myth or exaggeration.
Because his actions troubled the Ottoman authorities, many pashas and fleet captains viewed him as a serious threat and reportedly offered rewards for his defeat. According to legend, after a confrontation at the Bosphorus he escaped back to Ulcinj.
His descendants are said to still live in Ulcinj today under the surnames Lazoja and Kapidani.
